Mission Notes

This is a sea battle that is an exercise in frustration and needs a lot of patience and probably at least a few tries (or a group!) to succeed.

There will be two enemy ships (both level 50) and the ship of the pirate you have to protect. You have to defeat your opponents while keeping your ally alive.

The first problem is that your ally - while level 50 himself - sails a 'La Belle' Light Corvette (Fallback) vessel, meaning that he can maybe take five or six broadsides from a level 50 NPC at the most from any direction (maybe 2-3 if they all hit the same side).

The second problem - which on the one hand makes it more difficult for you to keep both enemies in your sights, but on the other hand is your best bet at finishing this mission - is that the mission takes place on a map with lots of small islands in the middle. This map tends to confuse the game's AI, often leading to them sailing off in random directions if they aren't engaged quickly. You better hope that this will happen with your ally, because if he gets into a fight with your opponents, there's hardly a chance for you to save him. And when he does get into range of them, he's not shy at all in attacking them, happily exchanging broadsides - for a minute or two, until he's sunk.

You will start out right next to your enemies, so attack both of them immediately, and hope that your ally won't feel obliged to save you from them. Most of the time, that's exactly what he tries to do, but eventually the wonky AI will kick in and he will sail off by himself, being safe while you fight the bad guys. But this could take a few tries, as mentioned earlier.
