Ships editsEdit

I told Taelorn that I would add OS speeds for small boats and ships if he would give them to me. He did so I started editing wiki with those and it grew from there. I added information on history, strategy and use, tactics and comparable ships to the same small ships I was editing the OS speed on.Istvan56 10:58, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Istvan56

Even before I got into Closed Beta (Feb 1, 2007) I was arguing for a historically accurate map. Heck, the argument goes back to when the game map was only the Lesser Antilles! Naturally I lost, the game world can't be historically accurate as it would unbalance the sides, Spain would be the huge winner of land while France would barely be larger than the Netherlands. So places long abandoned or lost such as Charlesfort and fort Caroline became viable ports while other French towns, such as Cayenne, became British. Large chucks of Spanish territory was given away to the Pirates (Mexico) and to the British (Venezuela). The Dutch lost Suriname, Aruba and other ports since they are not a playable nation, much to my chagrin. Sadly, no explaination has been given. FLS is poor on the background story and documentation. So I've been adding history and alternate history to explain why these ports are where they are.Istvan56 10:58, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Istvan56

yeah, I did notice that. Makes a great addition to our city pages, thanks a lot :) Where did you get the alternate history from? Did you make that up yourself? --Ailar 13:24, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I am a writer (among other skills) but I try to keep it as close to what is in the game as possible. I'll keep plugging at the ports till I get them all done.Istvan56 06:45, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Istvan56
That's quite cool, you should point some of the FLS Devs towards those articles (don't know offhand which of them's charged with building and maintaining the game world) --Ailar 14:38, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
