July 14 Edit[]
"The Mont Blanc is named after the game famous Mort Blanche, a French Freetrader who plays on Antigua."
You got any proof supporting that claim? ;-) --Ailar 07:20, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Is the Mont Blanc still a 4th Rate?[]
I wanted to start the discussion here, does anyone still sail one, and if so would you say it still rates as a 4th...or is she more in line with Frigate these days?

I'd say yes, she's still a 4th Rate[]
I sail one religiously, in fact its my favorite ship. Using the game logic, based on gun decks and sailing performance, the Mont Blanc is probably most comparable to a Macedon 4th rate. The only area where its really lacking compared to other 4ths is broadside integrity, but you can compensate nicely with the proper fittings. Its a great ship for Freetraders to farm NPC fleets in, because of its large cargo room. You don't have to toss away those mast sections that drop like you do in a regular lineship because you're short on cargo space. DPS numbers on the MB are in line with most 4th rates. If you want to use the actual Royal Navy rating system, around the time period of the game, the MB probably rates as a heavy fifth rate.
