Missions are a great source of gold, experience and rare items. Missions put players in many different and challenging situations, allowing them to improve their skills and familiarize themselves with the strengths and weaknesses of their ships.
Missions are started by NPCs that are indicated by an exclamation mark, and handed in to characters indicated by a question mark. Most missions take place in some instanced area, which can be reached by talking to the Longboat Coxswain character, or by entering a building in a port.
Characters have to meet certain requiements before they are offered any mission. Character's level needs to be at most 5 levels below the Mission Level (for example, a level 6 character will only be offered missions that have Mission Level 1-11). Some missions require a minimum amount of reputation with a faction, or a prerequisite mission.
Repeatable and Daily Missions
Some missions can be repeated multiple times, either indefinitely or once every day. These missions have substantial rewards (such as the dailies in Orleans), or increase a character's reputation with a faction.
Daily Missions reset at a specific time of day, and can be completed again.
Career Missions
Every career is associated with ten missions, that are offered by Career Trainers after every 5 levels gained by the character. A few additional missions are also available for certain career types.
Career missions unlock important skills and abilities, as well as unique items that can be exchanged for similar ones in the capital of the character's nation.
Group Missions
Most Daily and Repeatable Missions require a group of up to 6 Captains to complete. Pit Fight is one of the very few Daily Missions that you are required to complete alone.
Mission Filter
You can quickly browse the available missions by using this filter. The Crossed Swords indicate a Swashbuckling (AvCom) Mission and the Ship indicates Sea Battle.
