Kidd's plan to rescue Balderdi is to take a smuggler ship loaded with Men of War and hope to get captured by the Varyags. If you manage to survive the capture and transport to their hideout, break out and rescue any Brethren prisoners.
You will be sailing a 'Sultan' Flute with an empty inventory. You will be facing off against too many to sink, but your objective will be just to charge the whalebone ship (a 'Marauder' Pirate Ship) and get boarded by it. Simply dropping your sails next to it and allowing it to demast you will be good enough.
You will wake up on board the ship. Talking to the neutral NPC in front of you transports you to the next phase of the mission.
Talk to your ally, and shoot the kegs by clicking on the bars. Next you will have to talk to the smuggler captain, who will inform you that the screaming is about to begin. A timer to rescue Balerdi starts. Fight your way through the cave map - Balerdi should be in the topmost ending. You will have to fight a boss with 1000+hp, so buff up and use your allies to take some heat.
Click on Balerdi to rescue her, and talk to her to take command of the ship. Click on the wheel.
You'll now be sailing the whalebone ship. You have access to Bronze Shot and Canister Shot, so load bronze. You have to sink four ships between level 40 and 45, while your ship slowly leaks. You aren't able to repair (except with repair items from the TA), but every time you sink a ship, you can collect their salvage to repair and stop the leaks for a time. You will need to be within 100y and stopped to pick up salvage, so plan your fights accordingly.
Once you sink all four ships, you will be immediately transported back to the deck, where you can finish the mission.
