Fairfax Excursus

Geoff "I always forget my bilge pump" Leibniz

The Fairfax Excursus are a major Pirate Gang who can be found in the southern Antilles. They primarily antagonize scientific vessels from the British Royal Society and the Académie Nationale.

Reputation

The reputation earned by defeating a Merryman is divided up among the following factions:

• Académie Nationale 50%
• British Royal Society 50%

Trophy & Bounty

Fairfax Pirates do not have a bounty mission or a trophy ship. However, they do award several rare items and titles as discussed below. They also frequently drop Prisoner: Rogue Scientist who can be turned in to Delilah Purcell at the British Royal Society in Port Royal or to Zoey Franche at the Académie Nationale in Pointe-à-Pitre.

Economic Role

There are four elite Fairfax captains who sometimes appear when a player attacks a group of two or three pirates greater then level thirty-five. These captains are:

Guido Galilei

• Defeating this captain results in a small chance of Guido Galilei’s Binnacle dropping. He also offers the bounty title "Counter-Copernican" which must be rolled on if there is more than one person in your group.

Captain Heisenberg

• Defeating this captain results in a small chance of Captain Heisenberg’s Steering Mechanism dropping. He also offers the bounty title "Uncertain Principal" (yes, that's how it's spelled) which must be rolled on if there is more than one person in your group.

Geoff Leibniz

• Defeating this captain results in a small chance of Geoff Leibniz’s Bilge Pump dropping. He also offers the bounty title "Binary Kommando" which must be rolled on if there is more than one person in your group.

Anders Celsius

• This captain has no notable drops.

The items dropped by these elites are required in the construction of first and second rate ships. Geoff's drop is currently the most valuable, non-chest loot drop in the game. The 'Assistance' Fourth Rate, 'Concorde' Frigate, and 'Assurance' Frigate also utilize these components.

Note that it is no longer possible to "catch and release" groups of Fairfax Pirates until the desired captain spawns.
