The preacher tells you that a local convoy has run into trouble - enemy sails have been spotted on the horizon. He asks you to gather a few fellow captains and come to their aid.
Mission Notes
This mission is marked as a GROUP MISSION in your journal, and rightfully so. The kill counter in the mission objectives below does not apply to single ships, but rather to waves of them. Each wave has three ships, which means there are a total of 18 opponents in this mission (all approximately between level 17 and 27). The waves will spawn very quickly, one after another, so you will have to fight most of your opponents at the same time (unless you are very fast at sinking them).
There is actually a large number of allied merchant vessels (about ten of them in a close group), but they will NOT move or fight back against the attackers, so killing them is entirely up to you and whoever you bring along. If even one of the merchants sinks, the mission fails.
You can use the terrain to your advantage here: the merchants will be anchored in a narrow channel between two islands. The enemies will approach from both sides, so with enough allies (better bring a full group if you try this) and a sufficient level of coordination you can barricade both sides of the channel to keep the attackers from reaching the merchants.
