Although lightly armored, Xebecs are fearsome hunting ships. They outperform all other ships against the wind and carry a large crew for boarding action.

History

The xebec owes much of its design to the earlier galleys and galleasses of the Mediterranean. The root of the name probably comes from an Arabic word for 'small ship', and is rendered into English in three forms: 'xebec', 'chebec', and 'zebec', though the word exists in many other languages as well, indicating its popularity (or at least knowledge of its existence) in the rest of Europe. read more...

Strategy and Use

This vessel is now primarily a NPC ship and not suitable for player use. The weak and light armor, coupled with the current stringent requirements to successfully board others vessels, have made this ship all but redundant.

It is however, along with it's older cousin the Arcadia Xebec, a great source of cheap XP for players to grind levels on.
