Current game version is 2.15.46.0
- The Agamemnon is a merchant bark that has been refit and repurposed into a dangerous warship. It's not quick, but it has a nasty bite and has a great running speed.
History
Strategy and Use
- The Agamemnon is a very affordable upgrade for Cutthroat captains working their way through their mid-20's. It can be found travelling alone or in packs with the 'Corsair' Mastercraft Xebec or 'Mystique' Polacre all along the American continental coastline from St. Rose's Bay down to Port-of-Spain, with hotspots around Biloxi and Santa Clara.
- It's a reliable levelling ship up until the early 30's when the 'Raa' Frigate and 'Stralsund' Mastercraft Frigate become available; while the level 27 'Stralsund' Frigate has somewhat heavier guns and better armor, it can be harder to obtain, has a sizeably smaller cargo capacity as well as a very low acceleration for a ship its level, which can make it an uncomfortable command especially for new captains used to much more agile ships.
Tactics
- The Agamemnon is quite possibly the most heavily armed ship for its level. It is also the first ship (for Cutthroat captains) to feature a top deck/gundeck battery distribution, as well as both bow and stern chasers. It allows adventurous Cutthroats to have an early taste of higher level vessels while also making a very efficient levelling boat on the cheap for captains who can't afford to keep upgrading the mods on a 'Postillionen' Mastercraft Frigate.
- The fast guns, while not as heavy as those of the level 27 Stralsund, are able to make quicker work of low level NPCs. Overall, the Agamemnon is a sturdy ship and reasonably maneuverable, too - its lower acceleration doesn't completely cripple her anywhere near to the extent of the Stral. A captain's main job is to pick a target and keep their guns trained on it long enough - while this might sound boring, it forces novices to experiment with pursuing multiple targets at the same time and learn NPC behavior and positionning tactics that come in handy both in PvE and PvP later on.
- The extensive cargo hold is both useful and profitable, particularly if one chooses to join a patrol fleet grinding group for faster levelling.
